Gaocheng's palace lantern production started in the Ming Dynasty
(1368-1644AD), dating back to 500 to 600 years ago. Gaocheng's palace
lanterns featured rich local characteristics, and its arhat lanterns,
revolving scene lanterns and the lanterns with two dragons playing with a
pearl are most frequently seen while the red gauze lanterns are the most
famous.
