Mt. Gaofeng Taoist Temple, China's Taoist shrine in Sichuan's Pengxi
County, witnessed the ceremony for the completion of the tallest Lao-tzu
statue in China and the commemoratory week for the 20th anniversary of
the temple's reopening to the public from Dec. 18th to the 24th. Dec.
22nd is the birthday of Lao-tzu, great thinker, philosopher and founder
of Taoism. A 36-meter-high Lao-tzu statue was completed on Pengxi
County's Mt. Gaofeng. As the statue is the highest in altitude, it is
honored as the No. 1 Lao-tzu statue under the sun.
